WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors head coach Ricardo Mannetti yesterday roped in the services of former teammate Mohammad ‘Slice’ Ouseb as second assistant coach.

The appointment also reunites Ouseb with former mate and incumbent Warriors first assistant coach Ronnie Kanalelo. The trio of Mannetti, Ouseb and Kanalelo were part of the famous Brave Warriors ‘Class of 1998’, which was the first group of national team players to qualify for the CAF Nations Cup in 1998. “Mohammad has been around for a long time as a player and I know what he can offer. In fact, he recently received his Confederation of African Football (CAF) coaching license. Mohammad has the quality, experience and our working relationship is superb,” said Mannetti, who added that Ouseb will also be involved with the U-17 and U-20 national teams.

With regard to the 25-member provisional squad announced early last week in preparation for Namibia’s 2015 Confederations of African Football (CAF) Nations Cup first round qualifier against Congo Brazzaville slated for this coming Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, Mannetti confirmed to New Era Sports that only the pair of Manfred Starke and Pekka Hamukwaya were dropped from the squad, due to personal and club commitments. “The technical team and the players will make sure they (Congo) feel the animosity on the pitch, that’s why I’m calling on all our supporters to come in big numbers and make the visitors feel that they are indeed visiting. We know the second leg will be tough and we must not let them be comfortable on the ball at all,” added Mannetti.
