Outjo murder accused remanded in custody

A 42-year-old man accused of murdering his girlfriend and dumping her dead body at the victim’s parental home in Outjo last weekend, was yesterday denied bail.

Outjo magistrate Immanuel Udjombala postponed the matter to June after denying Piet Gamaseb bail. According to the weekend crime report, it is alleged that the suspect reportedly hit his girlfriend Duffie Bokkie Hanes with an iron bar on the head, leading to her death.

The incident occurred last Saturday at around 03h00 in the Soweto location of Outjo’s Etoshapoort.

It is further alleged that the suspect then asked for a wheelbarrow from a certain house in the same location, loaded the deceased’s body in the wheelbarrow, and offloaded it at the 7 De Laan location where the victim’s mother resided.

“The deceased was found with multiple wounds on the head when her body was inspected. The body was taken to the Outjo state hospital, where the doctor certified her dead. The next of kin are informed.

Police investigations continue”. In an unrelated matter in the Khomas region, a suspected burglar died instantly after he was allegedly shot by a member of the City Police, who was responding to a housebreaking incident and found a man busy breaking into a bar. The incident occurred on Saturday at about 03h00 at Herero Mall in Clemens Kapuuo Street.
