WINDHOEK– The Katutura Community Hall was on Saturday night bursting at its seems as hundreds of Oviritje fans and lovers converged on this venue that is quickly assuming the label of the Mecca of Oviritje to herald the New Year and welcome back from the United Kingdom two of the foremost artists of the genre.
Mutjangatjike Ben Muundjua and Kanjai Kauapirura last Wednesday returned from the UK where they staged three concerts in three different cities in England, namely Crawley, Bristol and ???. They were there on the invitation of Namibians living, working and studying in the UK. Among the artists performing at the welcoming concert on Saturday, and the first oviritje concert this year, were Mutjangatjike, Diop, Kanjai, Jane, Vekazemba, and Tjonga, among others. The concert also featured Namibian Kwaito star, Exit.
