OSHAKATI – A 41-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a panga by her 54-year-old boyfriend in the Omusati region on Wednesday.
Omusati community policing sub-division inspector Anna Kunga said the incident occurred around 18h30 at Ongongolwa village in the Tsandi constituency.
Kunga said the victim survived the attack, but her suspected attacker allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house.
“It is alleged that the suspect, who is a boyfriend of the victim, was arguing with her, and the suspect hacked and injured the victim with a panga on the head, right hand and neck which caused the victim to sustain serious injuries,” she said.
The woman was rushed to the Tsandi District Hospital, and transferred to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital in critical condition.
The deceased was identified as Paulus Namboga Kathindi, and his next of kin have been informed of his death. -Nampa
