OUTAPI – A new political party has been formed in Omusati. The party, named Namibia People’s Organisation (Nampo), has been branded as “a revolutionary off-spring of Swapo” by its founder Polykarp Ameya.
Nampo was formed in December last year, a week after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, allegedly“to advocate for economic independence in the country”.
Ameya, who is still in possession of a Swapo party membership card, told New Era that the establishment of Nampo Party is attributed to the popular demand for the economic independence of Namibia.
“As the off-spring of Swapo Party, Nampo Party is thus proudly formed as granted by the Swapo Party’s Constitution, Article III B (5) for the same revolutionary legacy to continue but at advanced level with strategically well shaped vision, scientifically defined modern philosophy, and advanced concrete operational policy objectives, higher than the Swapo Party aims and objectives but sustainably accommodating each other against transformational loopholes,” explained Ameya.
However, the chairperson of Swapo national leaders assigned to the Omusati Region, Dr Albert Kawana, said the founder of the new political party is “confused and a non-starter”, adding that the founder “does not have a sense of creating his own party and instead mixes his project with the ruling party’s name”.
Kawana made the above remarks at Outapi on Saturday when he was informed about the newly formed politically party.
Swapo regional co-ordinator for the Omusati Region, Erginus Endjala, said Ameya is still a Swapo member because he has not yet resigned.
“We will deal with him accordingly because he is violating the Swapo law. He was supposed to resign before creating his party,” said Endjala.
Endjala also warned Ameya to stop using Swapo’s name because Swapo is only affiliated to one organisation, which is the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW).
Nampo is the third party to have been formed last year after the Namibia Economic Freedom Party (NEFF) and the Ongandjera People’s United Party. The founder of the Ongandjera People’s United Party, Andreas Kapuku, later said his is not a political party but a social group to develop Okahao.
Ameya said the philosophy of his new party, Nampo, is born out of Swapo key revolutionary principles of democracy and social justice, the Swapo Party Constitution, Article II and was professionally developed into a defined political ideology of social justice democracy to guide the political activities of Nampo Party during the challenging peaceful struggle for the victorious attainment of economic independence of Namibia.
“The only historic revolutionary political organisation, the ruling Swapo Party has failed to come up with a clear political vision and mission for an advanced revolution towards technological and economic independence of Namibia,” said Ameya.
“We are the revolutionary descendants of all Namibian national heroes, including our forefathers Chief Maharero, Hedrick Witbooi, Jacob Marengo, King Mandume Ndemufayo, King Nehale lyaMpingana, Iipumbu yaTshilongo, and others,” he said.
