The Polytechnic of Namibia has apologized for the inconvenience students are currently experiencing and enduring due to the refurbishment of facilities at the institution.

In a press statement the rector, Dr Tjama Tjivikua, said the refurbishment of chairs in the lecture rooms is an essential part of an institution.

“The Polytechnic is committed to providing a conducive learning environment. Along these lines, the Polytechnic awarded a tender to a South African company to replace all the ‘fixed’ (swivel) chairs in the Lecture Block. This was agreed to take place during the recess week,” Tjivikua said.

“Unfortunately and due to unforeseen circumstances, the works have started but are not completed yet. We have received assurance from the contractor that they will complete the works this week. Some arrangements will be made to hold the lectures in the Examination Hall.

“The other venues are unaffected by this incident and thus all classes in the rest of the venues will proceed as usual,” he said.

He has now formally apologized to the Polytechnic community for this inconvenience and gave the assurance that the work will be done this week.
