Contrasting prospects in Katutura derby…as Stars face Black Africa

Tomorrow’s Katutura derby between traditional rivals African Stars and Black Africa will not only be the highlight of the weekend in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership, but will equally be a match of contrasting prospects.

Stars, who are currently topping the log table with 41 points after 15 rounds of matches, will tomorrow be out to further solidify their runaway lead at the summit when they lock horns with struggling foes Black Africa at the Unam stadium in the capital.

The Katutura glamour football club has been unmatched since the start of the 2022/23 season, as they have so far scored a remarkable 35 goals in total and are currently the only team in the league this season who are yet to taste defeat.

To the contrary, former multiple league champions Black Africa are, on the other hand, struggling to remain afloat in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership, with the Gemengde-based outfit currently battling to find passage out of the relegation zone as they sit third from the bottom with just 16 points from 15 matches.

Black Africa’s veteran gaffer Brian Isaacs had earlier admitted during multiple
post-match media engagements that unless the team signs experienced and quality players, they will continue to struggle for points or even face the unwanted danger of being relegated.

Summed up, tomorrow’s derby will provide both Stars and Black Africa an opportunity to carve their individual fates, with Stars’ eyes firmly fixed on their quest to win the league trophy while Black Africa’s immediate concern will be to collect maximum points and hopefully move out of the relegation zone.

Both teams will be returning
to action on Sunday when Black Africa travel down south to face Young Brazilians at the Karasburg stadium, while Stars will host Gobabis outfit Young African at the Unam stadium in the capital.
