Exciting weekend in FNB WSL …as Ongos Face Setback

This past weekend witnessed a flurry of action in the FNB Women’s Super League (WSL), with a total of 26 goals scored across the country.

Among the standout performances was Namib Daughters’ performance against Nust Babes, with the former securing a massive 6-1 victory on Saturday.

Windhoek-based Girls and Goals dominated Ongwediva Queens with a resounding 5-0 win in Ongwediva, while defending champions Ongos Ladies FC faced an unexpected setback as they were held to a goalless draw by Khomas Nampol at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) technical centre on the same day.

Buoyed by their brave performance on Saturday, Khomas Nampol bounced back with a convincing 3-1 triumph against V-Power Angels on Sunday.

Earlier, V-Power Angels suffered a 3-0 defeat to Beauties on Saturday.

Meanwhile, NUST Babes redeemed themselves with an impressive 2-1 victory over Okahandja on Sunday.

Ramblers also faced disappointment, succumbing 1-0 to an in-form Girls and Goals side on Sunday.

Reflecting on his team’s performance, Ongos FC coach Shama Gure expressed disappointment with their weekend display.

“Saturday’s game against Nampol was high-profile, and we failed to capitalise on our chances. It appears Nampol had a strategy to secure a draw, and they succeeded. However, we view this as a learning opportunity, and will identify areas for improvement as we regroup,” Gure said.
