Netball Namibia (NN) vice president Rebekka /Goagoses expressed great excitement with the return of local netball activities over the weekend, saying although players showed some signs of rustiness due to prolonged inactivity, the return of the MTC Netball Premiership was not short of action.

“We are extremely excited with the return of contact sports, in particular netball. In terms of competitiveness, a lot needs to be done as the break [caused by the Covid-19 pandemic] has affected the teams but we are hopeful the clubs’ technical staff have plans in store for their players in terms of fitness,” she told New Era Sport yesterday.

She reiterated her call for various business communities to come on board and take the league’s clubs under their wings, emphasising each town should make a priority to support their teams.

“As the board of NN, we are pleading to the corporate world to take teams from their region or town under their wings and support them financially. For example, the Grootfontein club should receive support from the Grootfontein business community and the same goes for Walvis Bay; they should support Eleven Arrows.”
