Mighty Gunners Netball spokesperson Desire Namases expressed her disappointment in Rebels NC for their failure to show up for their scheduled match on Saturday, despite them collecting maximum points.

She believes this unexpected turn of events could have a significant impact on their campaign.

The highly-anticipated clash between the two teams in the MTC Netball Namibia Premier League (NNPL) was scheduled for Saturday. However, for reasons unknown, Rebels NC failed to make an appearance, resulting in their forfeiture of the match and Mighty Gunners being awarded with 15 goals.

Namases stated: “The weekend matches were well-played. Unfortunately, Mighty Gunners NC are very disappointed that Rebels NC didn’t show up for their game against us. As a result, they forfeited points, leaving us with only 15 goals. This outcome has greatly affected my team because we had aimed to narrow the gap between Navy NC and Namibian Correctional Services NC by scoring more goals. It’s truly disappointing.”

Despite the setback, she maintained a positive outlook, and expressed her team’s determination for the remainder of the season. “As a team, we will return to rigorous training, as usual, to prepare for the weekend of 4 June when we conclude the first leg of the MTC NNPL. Our goal is to maintain our position as champions and secure the top spot”, she continued.

In other matches on Saturday, Otjozondjupa Nampol defeated Young Stars 46-35, while Wanderers emerged victorious against Eleven Arrows with a score of 51-36. Namibia Navy continued their dominant campaign by defeating Tigers 46-33. Additionally, Eleven Arrows suffered another defeat against Otjozondjupa Nampol, losing with a score of 57-32. Tigers managed to secure maximum points with a 57-28 win against Fatou.

On Sunday, Eleven Arrows suffered another loss, this time against Young Stars, with a close score of 53-48. Meanwhile, Wanderers maintained their winning streak, overpowering Northern Fly Ballers with an impressive score of 66-39.
