Gunners face NCS in MTC NNPL

The MTC Namibia Netball Premier League continues this weekend at the Kuisebmond stadium in Walvis Bay, with an exciting match between inaugural champions Namibia Correctional Services (NCS) and Mighty Gunners.

This encounter starts at 12h30 tomorrow.

Both teams are tied at the top with 22 points after 13 matches played, with 11 wins and two losses each. Otjozondjupa Nampol too has the exact same record, but NCS has a better goal difference currently with 328 points, compared to Gunners’ 202 and Otjozondjupa Nampol’s 149.

Speaking to this publication on her team’s readiness, Desiree Namases of Gunners said they are aware of the tough assignment which lies ahead, but they remain ready to face them.

“It’s quite a challenging encounter for us this weekend. NCS is a good team, and possesses all the qualities to put up a great fight. But we are equally prepared for the challenge, and we want the points the same way they want the win. We have had a great week training, despite the challenging weather, but we can say we are ready,” she added.

Another exciting match in Round 3 of the league’s second leg to look forward to tomorrow at 14h00 is between Otjozondjupa Nampol and Namibia Navy, who are in fourth position with 20 points.

Also on Saturday, in-form Wanderers (fifth with 20 points) will square off against Young Stars (ninth with six points), starting at 08h00, while Eleven Arrows (eight with six points) will welcome Tigers (seventh with 14 points) in another tough encounter at 09h30.

Afrocat Lions will take on Fatou at 11h00, while Arrows will again return to the courts and face off against Rebels (11th with 4 points) at 15h30.

Afrocat Lions (sixth with 14 points) and Young Stars end the day’s matches with their battle starting at 17h00.

Round 4 action will start on Sunday with Arrows taking on Young Stars at 08h00, followed by a tie between NCS and Rebels at 09h30.

Tigers and Fatou (12th for zero points) then take to the court at 11h00, and Navy will then wrap up the weekend with a tie against Wanderers, starting at 12h30.

Northern Ballers are 10th with six points.
