It’s all systems go for Sunshine boxing bonanza…as fighters face off

Local and international boxers who will be featuring in this Saturday’s ‘Together as One Part 3’ Boxing Bonanza yesterday declared their readiness for their fights.

A well-attended face-off event held at Thuringerhof Protea Hotel in Windhoek saw headliners Anthony Jarman and Paulinus ‘John John’ Ndjolonimu locking eyes. They will square off for the WBO Africa super middleweight title.

Another title fight is scheduled between Sebastianus ‘Iron Fists’ Nathanael and Zimbabwe’s Hassan Milanzi for the vacant WBO Africa featherweight title.

Local fighter Charles Shinima and his Malawian opponent, Chikondi Makawa will battle it out in the junior middleweight division over six rounds.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Makawa said he has been training hard for the fight and come Saturday, he will put up a great show.

“I have been preparing for this bout for two months now and I have come here to win and that’s what I’ve been telling myself since the day I learned about this fight. Heading into Saturday’s boxing match, I have to say I’m thrilled to be here and fight a good opponent who has a good record, despite me not knowing much about him. I can say I am ready for him,” said the Malawian.

The bonanza is staged by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy.

Other undercard fights to be witnessed will be Max Ipinge who will take on Silongo Shikongo in a super middleweight bantamweight, and Shifiona Tomas who will face David Johanness in a featherweight four-rounder.

Also in action will be Philipus Nghitumbwa against Matheus Jonas in the bantamweight division and Martin Mukungu against Sakaria Shihima also in the bantamweight category. Many more exciting undercard fights are lined up for the night.

The event will be staged with a limited number of attendees but will be broadcast live on NBC TV and live-streamed on all social media platforms.
