Kasaona invited to Caf coaching workshop

In line with Confédération Africaine de Football (Caf)’s strategic direction and commitment to promoting women in football, Caf Women’s Football Department, in partnership with the Saudi Arabian Football Association (SAFF), is hosting a high-level women's coaching workshop, which runs from 14 to 18 May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Former Brave Gladiators' skipper Uerikondjera ‘Mammie’ Kasaona is invited by Caf to attend the four-day course.

“It’s a privilege to be part of this course. It’s all about learning the new trends of football that coaches must update themselves with. The laws of the game change occasionally, and we must keep up and learn about administration challenges that counterpart coaches face as well. “One of the key issues in football is coaching leadership. How to work together with your technical team, as acknowledging each other’s strengths for the betterment of the teams is very crucial, and I am happy that the course is tackling this. I want to thank Caf for the initiative,” she expressed. She said they are starting to see the strides Caf is making in gender inclusivity.

“It shows that we are not limited, and that girls who want to make a career in football have a great chance of succeeding. “I want to thank Namibia Football Association president Robert Shimooshili, and the technical director, Jaqueline Shipanga for granting me this opportunity. This means a lot for my coaching career for the young girls back home in the different
leagues and academies. I am excited, and looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my fellow coaches back home,” she said.

The workshop aims to increase gender diversity in coaching by supporting female coaches to excel and remain involved in football coaching.

It equips them with advanced coaching knowledge and skills to enhance their career opportunities.

This initiative underscores Caf and SAFF’s dedication to fair opportunities and inclusivity.
