A grade 8 learner from Uukumwe Secondary School in Oshivelo drowned in a river on the outskirts of the settlement where she was swimming with three friends last weekend. 

Confirming the incident, Oshivelo station commander Victor Mbonabi warned parents to be on the lookout for their children and remain vigilant to avoid similar tragic events. 
“We received a lot of rain and water is everywhere. Therefore, I caution the parents and children to stay away because such catchments are deep,” he added.
