A 37-year-old man who appeared in court recently for attempted murder is expected to return for murder after the victim he had assaulted with a stick died yesterday. 

 David David Nghishoono was initially arrested and charged with attempted murder. 

He allegedly beat Martin Nabot (37) who mistakenly attempted to use his (Nghishoono) tombo to wash his hands after having dinner as he thought it was water.

 His victim passed on at Ongwediva Medipark in the Oshana region. 

The police reported that on 9 January 2023 at about 21h35, Nabot was beaten and died yesterday after spending several days in critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened at Ondema village, Okongo constituency in the Ohangwena region. 

“It was alleged that the suspect beat the deceased with a dry stick on his head and sustained serious injuries and was rushed and admitted at Onandjokwe hospital in critical condition but transferred to Ongwediva where he died after some days as a result,” read the police crime report. 

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
