WALVIS BAY – Domestic violence has once again claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman who was stabbed to death with a spear on Saturday in Karibib, Erongo Region.

The woman, identified as Beverly Kurangera (26), was killed by her former boyfriend who broke into her shack in the Old Location suburb and launched a vicious attack on her, ultimately killing her.

Briefing the media on Monday during the weekend’s crime report, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu of the Namibian Police in Erongo said a 51-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder.

According to Iikuyu, the suspect allegedly arrived at the deceased’s shack around 21h00 and unlawfully and intentionally broke into Kurangera shack while the deceased was inside.

“The deceased managed to break free during the assault and ran to next door neighbours for help,” he said.
Iikuyu says the suspect chased the deceased and stabbed her multiple times with a spear in the neck, in her neighbour’s yard.

“She died on the spot and the suspect fled from the scene but was arrested the same day in Usakos,” Iikuyu said.
The suspect is expected to make his first appearance on a charge of murder and domestic violence in the Karibib Magistrate’s Court today.
