ONGWEDIVA – Forty-four owners of informal businesses on Thursday received training on how to bake fat cakes, marinate and braai Realgood chicken, and how to make a family meal from instant noodles.

The one-day training was held in Oshakati, Oshana region and had 41 females and three males took part.

Namib Mills informal market developer for all northern regions, Elizabeth Kiinge said the initiative is a way for Namib Mills to give back to the nation because the company is going forward due to the nation’s support.

“We at Namib Mills innovate and support small and medium enterprises and make sure they do not lack any support in terms of training on how to prepare the food we produce,” she said.

Kiinge maintained that they also educate the trainees on how to run their businesses and how to manage and calculate profits.

“We also remind them of the importance of hygiene in a business, how to maintain a business, and how to offer good customer services.”

The training is open to anyone interested in selling any of Namib Mills products in all 14 regions of the country, especially restaurant owners and kapana vendors.

“Due to the high demand, I now give training five times a month in different northern regions. We want to take people out of poverty and meet the government halfway,” said Kiinge.

Those who took part in the training received a certificate and will be allowed to participate in a Namib Mills competition in November 2023.

Senior brand ambassador for Realgood chicken in the north and owner of Wine and Garlic John Ndume highlighted that he also went through the same training with Namib Mills and now runs a successful business selling off-the-grill Realgood chicken. “This initiative has boosted my business and I now sell 120- 130 Realgood Kapana half chickens in a day.
