Namibian youth shines at BRICS+ Youth Summit

Sarah Tsei-tseimou recently represented Namibia at the BRICS+ Youth Summit in Pretoria, South Africa, an opportunity she described as a remarkable learning journey.

It allowed her to engage with a diverse pool of talented and vibrant youth from across the globe.

The BRICS+ Youth Summit is a platform fostering innovation and collaboration among young minds.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.  It was a great platform to interact with young people, that are talented, innovative and change makers for their communities at large,” she told Youth Corner.

The summit featured five thematic areas of competition, including Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0; Sustainable Development and Green Innovation; Inclusive Innovation; Health Tech and Biotechnology; and Education Technology.

Tsei-tseimou participated in the Health Tech and Biotechnology category, presenting her innovative ideas with hopes of securing a spot at the upcoming 27th St Petersburg Summit in Russia.

Reflecting on her journey, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and the honour of being the sole Namibian representative. While unable to disclose her project at this time, she eagerly anticipates showcasing it to the world, emphasising the importance of perseverance and self-belief in pursuing one’s dreams.

“I also believe that we need to create platforms where young, innovative minds can share ideas and collaborate with each other, as nothing great is achieved in isolation. Namibia has a rich potential of innovative minds; we just need the opportunities to be granted to us to achieve our full potential,” she said.

She remains committed to harnessing technology and innovation for the betterment of her community and beyond and sees platforms like the BRICS + Youth Summit as essential conduits for amplifying youth voices and driving impactful change on a global scale.

Tsei-tseimou encouraged Namibian youth to persist in their pursuits and underscores the importance of creating platforms for sharing ideas and collaboration, recognising the rich potential of innovative minds within Namibia.
