Nomination night: Prelude to the NAMAs

Home Lifestyle Nomination night: Prelude to the NAMAs

With the awards just a month away, one can literally taste and feel the excitement, nerves and anxiety in the air, as the biggest music night in Namibia makes waves ready to descend on Swakopmund, the host town of this year’s Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs).

However, before the big night, there has always been the enthralling event preluding the biggest showpiece and social event of the year: the NAMAs nominees’ announcement.

According to the organisers, the nomination event has always filled the air with incredible anticipation and, by some measure, has set the pre-course stage towards the biggest night in music and showbiz – and this time around, it will be nothing short of another remarkable act. This Wednesday, the NAMAs will reveal the nominated artists who survived the gruelling two phases of judging and entry stages, since the call for entries for the 2018 edition last December. The nomination event will take place at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), and artists are invited to this incredible event. Artists emerging from the nearly 800 entries will be the final contenders, for the various awards on the night. As the norm, the event will also be broadcast live on Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) 1 at 16h00 on Whatagwan, to ensure that the whole nation is kept in the loop. The NAMAs 2018 edition returns to the iconic Swakopmund Dome (Swakopmund Indoor Sport Centre) and over 20 electrifying live performances would form part of the line-up this year where Namibia’s biggest stars, socialites, celebrities, the influencers, the trendsetters, the mere-mortals and the ordinary congregate.

NAMAs 2018 would feature amazing out-of-this-world staging and production again in the magical captivating music world where it all comes together on April 28. Ticket sales are now open at webtickets. The VIP ticket cost N$600 while the normal ticket cost N$250. The NAMAs exist to honour and celebrate the Namibian musical industry and reward artists and the most talented in the industry by acknowledging their contribution towards arts and culture in the country.
