NTA hosts succeful junior tourney

A total of 58 junior tennis enthusiasts participated in the Sanlam Namibia Tennis Associations Junior Tennis Tournament in Windhoek at the Central Tennis Court, SKW, and Nampol in Windhoek this past weekend. In a press statement made available to this publication, the tennis association said the juniors, who were from the ages of U/10 to U/25, competed in both singles and doubles matches over the weekend.

The statement added that the tournament awards valuable ranking points to the players. These rankings play a crucial role in the selection of national teams and in determining the eight players per age group who will compete in the Namibian Junior Masters Tournament at the conclusion of the year.

On the court, the winners displayed extraordinary tactical athletic ability, resulting in an impressive victory that earned them the top spots in their respective categories.

Marketing and Communications Manager for Distribution at Sanlam Namibia, Wendy Naruses, expressed immense enthusiasm for the significance of the T823 Sanlam Junior Tennis Tournament.

“This tournament holds immense importance as it fosters sports development, promotes healthy competition, and fosters great sportsmanship among the participants ranging in age groups from U/10 to U/25. Investing in sports, particularly at this developmental stage, not only enhances physical well-being but also nurtures potential talent, instils discipline, and imparts valuable life skills,” she said.

She added that Sanlam Namibia is a staunch supporter of education and sports, recognises the importance of youth sports development, and takes pride in its affiliation with Namibia Tennis Association.

The statement concluded that Sanlam strives to unlock inherent sporting potential and uncover hidden talents and stars within our nation. This initiative aims to empower future generations in sports, enabling them to confidently perform on the global sports stage while nurturing their overall well-being.
