Paratus turbocharges Cycle Classic competition

Paratus Namibia, which is one of Africa’s largest privately owned ICT network operators, yesterday became the official principal sponsor of the Cycle Classic competition, which brings the country’s foremost riders together to compete for top honours.

This year’s edition, which will mark the 23rd edition of the Cycle Classic competition, will take place from 8 to 9 October in Windhoek, and will see Paratus taking over as headline sponsor with an amount of N$260 000.

The Namibian newspaper is also partner to the event.

Cyclists will battle it out in different categories this year, which include mountain biking, kiddies’ classic race, and the road race.

Entries open on 5 October.

Speaking at the launch and sponsorship announcement in the capital yesterday, Paratus Namibia managing director Andrew Hall said they are delighted to be the official partners of the Cycle Classic, saying their aim is to add value to the brand and help it become a success.

“We are happy to be associated with this competition, and we go into this partnership as the official sponsor for three years. We will work hard to make sure the event becomes a success, and take this prestigious competition to greater heights in the coming three years of our partnership,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rainer Ritters from the Rotary Club Windhoek, which organises the event, said they are happy to see the growth of the event and cannot wait for this year’s edition.

“It is a great event, and we are proud to be part of this growth. We want to see the competition grow further and continue to be a platform, where our cyclists will grow and become elites in their own rights. I’m looking forward to this year’s event,” he added.
