WINDHOEK - Night Under the Stars (NUTS) welcomes the new season with a fresh set of sounds brought to you by Rose Blvc, who this Friday tops acoustic reggae and jazz beats with her husky voice at the Goethe-Institut-Namibia.
The newcomer is known for her combination of youthful spirit with a mature and somber tone. “I now laugh at my cousin for encouraging me to join the school choir back in 2011. It has taken me a while to appreciate my voice,” says Rose who was born in Okahandja and raised in Walvis Bay. Not holding onto a childhood and having that dictate her future, the young Namibian woman searches for meaning and substance in her music. “I am inspired by various artists like Damian Marley, Amy Winehouse and Andra Day to perform covers but all of that accumulates to me making my own tracks,” she says.
Rose Blvc is also to welcome Zinia Adonis, AJ and her guitarist Romano on stage to introduce the audience to originals like Mirror and Righteous or Forbidden Fruit. Rose Blvc is not a stranger to the local music scene and has performed at the City Market, Boiler Room, Hilton Kalabar and celebration of World Music Day 2018 to name a few. “Music helps me to reflect on myself and move forward,” she said. Entrance is N$ 20.
