SBMusic Fest set to rock

Anticipated to be a major revival of the local entertainment scene, the SBMusic Fest slated for September this year is bound to shake off the Covid blues and bring all and sundry together.

The brain child of Martin Morocky, popularly known as King TeeDee, the music and football festival is sponsored by Standard Bank (SB) Namibia and is set for 23 to 25 September at the Unam stadium.

This will be his third concert and charity cup, predicted to reach an audience of over 10 000, and create unity among music lovers in the country as well as unite everyone from all walks of life through its seven-a-side football competition.

According to King TeeDee, the event, also known as 23.09.22, is what Namibia and the rest of Africa need during a global pandemic.

“I look forward to hosting such an event of a huge expected attendance, and I appreciate those loyal members of the public for always standing by initiatives which indirectly create so much job opportunities,” he said.

Renowned businesswoman and designer, DJ Alba will be behind the decks, and she looks forward to the big event.

“I’m super excited to be part of the line up once again. I’m always honoured and grateful to be given such a huge platform to showcase my art. All the best to King TeeDee and everyone else involved.”

Also billed to perform, Tate Buti shared similar sentiments and emphasised the importance of artists starting their own shows.

“It’s a good initiative that King TeeDee has started, which others can learn from. This platform creates jobs over the days of the festival, which should be supported.”

Sunny Boy is also excited, saying it is a privilege and an honour to be invited to perform at a show of such great magnitude by his long-time brother King TeeDee, adding that he is proud of him.

“The show gives kids the chance to dream and believe that if he can do it, they can do it too, and probably even better.”

Exit, Mushe, DJ Vuyo, Mr Makoya and others will also be in action. The international guest is South African amapiano singer and two-time DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Award winner Makhadzi. Proceeds of the football charity cup will see 15% donated to a selected charity from the Mshasho Trust Fund, as well as orphans and those children who have lost parents to HIV/Aids.

Corporates can register their teams at N$4 000 per team and social league teams can register for N$2 500. Small and medium enterprises can register a stand at N$4 000 per beverage stand and N$3 500 for a food stand.

Tickets are available to the public via webtickets as well as the PayPulse App. The early bird special is N$50 per day for the general area until 9 September. After the said date, general tickets will increase to N$100 per day. The fixed price for VVIP tickets is N$2 500 per day and N$4 500 for a two-day pass.

Other sponsors include MTC, Tafel Lager, Top Score, Real Good Chicken, Coca Cola, Namib Mills and Avani.
