Debmarine Namibia Premiership log leaders African Stars on Sunday scrapped a hard-fought 0-0 draw against struggling Tigers to remain top of the table with 29 points, while second-placed Life Fighters maintained momentum with a 3-1 win over third-placed Blue Waters. 

Stars, who on Saturday defeated archrivals Orlando Pirates 3-1, were on Sunday gunning for maximum points against Tigers as they looked to bolster their march towards to the league title. 

After over 90 minutes of regulated time, Stars and Tigers had to share spoils in a tightly-contested  goalless draw that saw the Shandumbala side remain fourth from bottom with 10 points on the 16-team log table, while Stars moved to 29 points and remained well on course.

Sunday’s action also saw fourth-placed Okahandja United squandering a perfect opportunity to close the gap at the top of the table after they played to a 0-0 draw against Tura Magic a thrilling clash that saw many goalscoring chances being created but none of the two sides could get the ball behind the net. 

Otjiwarongo side Mighty Gunners and Black Africa both continued with their resurgence with wins over Unam FC and Civics. Gunners on Sunday defeated Unam 2-0 to solidify their strong hold at 5th position with 18 points, while Black Africa forced a 2-1 win over Civics as they continue to recover and move further away from the relegation zone.

Looking at the league’s statistics after Sunday’s round of matches, leaders Stars have so far collected the most points (29 points) after 11 matches, while Citizens have collected the least (1 point). 

Statistics also show that Stars is the team that have scored the most goals (22 goals) and Citizens again remains the team with the least goals (2 goals). Citizens is also the only team that has so far conceded the most goals (25 goals), while Stars remains the only team that has conceded the least number of goals (5 goals).

Meanwhile, Unam FC is the team with the most league draws so far, which is six draws from 11 matches, while Citizens, Life Fighters and Young Brazilians boast the least draws (1 draw each).
