Unam student urges learners to study hard

WINDHOEK- A science student at the University of Namibia (Unam), Alexis Wimmerth who passed her Grade 12 with remarkable marks is urging learners to study wisely, hard and focus more on their studies.

Sharing her studying tactics and tips Wimmerth says the last quarter examinations are very important to Grade 10 and 12 learners for various reasons. “For Grade 12 learners this is their last examination to complete the senior secondary phase of their school career, indeed a milestone in their lives,” says Wimmerth, adding that the trimester results will determine whether they will go for further studies or repeat some subjects to get the required points for their field of study.

“For Grade 10s this is a very crucial examination, if they don’t pass, this means they will have to repeat the grade, hence they need to pay more attention to make it.” She adds that passing the two grades is not automatic, but it requires learners to study hard and to focus. “Study actively, focus on passing and have a vision. If you do not know where you want to go, then it will be difficult to study.  Your focus on an envisaged career will motivate you to study,” says Wimmerth.

With only a few weeks left, Wimmerth cautions that this is revision time and it is not study time. “Don’t get into group discussions before the day of the examination as this will confuse you.  Also avoid after-examination discussions on how you answered the last question. Set up examination study timetables, have a daily plan, and execute the plan,” advises Wimmerth
