Inspired by his mother who was one of the few people who started Herero Mall where she was selling pap en vleis, Billa Kairaere Kandjii opened up ‘The Jungle’ a household name in Katutura.

One of their notable achievements as a result of client needs has been creating and effectively launching novel goods and services like branded shirts and caps. “Building a loyal customer base and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction has been my crucial accomplishment. It indicated that the business is meeting or exceeding customer expectations and fostering strong relationships,” Kandjii said.

The name ‘The Jungle’ according to Kandjii, boils down to three key factors, the first being adventure or excitement, diversity and the last being growth and competition. “The jungle is often associated with intense competition and survival of the fittest. The name reflects a competitive business environment or a focus on growth and success.”

He added that the name might evoke a sense of adventure, excitement, or unpredictability, similar to the untamed nature of a jungle, it symbolises diversity and a wide range of offerings, just like the diverse ecosystem found in a jungle.

This weekend ‘The Jungle’ will be hosting an all-white themed party, on Saturday, 25 November, two of the uprising dancers Uavangua Grace Kariahua stage name (Hatred Queen) and Himeezembi Katuru aka Messi Van Tembisa will be engulfing the stage with performances. The duo says although dancing has become their source of income, it is more than just making money or coming up with moves but rather an escape from life’s negativity. “We would say the all-white party is surely going to be another opportunity to showcase our capabilities and get exposure, which is our main purpose as it will open many doors for us. Of course, we just want to make our fans happy and they enjoy watching us do what we love to do,” said Kariahua. Performing has now become very easy and flows naturally for the pair. “So, all we do is practice a few moves to the most trending songs get cute outfits and we just go up there and have fun. For nerves, we try and relax and not overthink and we always try and remind ourselves why we dance to begin with,” she added.

“I appreciate all that my mother Julia Undu Kandjii has done for me and the sacrifices she has made to be a great parent. Not to forget my partner Virginia Kujandeka it is an honour to have her in my life too. I thank her for living my dreams with me and her endless support guiding me all throughout since day one,” Kandjii expressed gratitude to the women who helped shape The Jungle. It is situated in Katutura, Galasier Street Erf 1945.
