Women to appear on rape charges

ONGWEDIVA – Two Namibian females aged 29 and 33 will make their first appearance in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court today on charges of rape.

According to Oshana police spokesperson, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the 29-year-old is a resident of Omeege village while the 33-year-old female resides in Iikuku village.

“The suspects used to find the victim who is mentally retarded at the cuca shops and on different occasions lured the 22-year-old victim to their house to use him for sexual intercourse purposes,” he said.

It is alleged the rape incidents took place mostly during the night at various places in the Omeege village.

“They took advantage of the victim because he is sick and this has been going on since last year,” said Aiyambo.

He urged family members of mentally unwell people to look after them and to always know their whereabouts at all times to avoid such incidents from happening.
