Presidential Affairs Minister Frans Kapofi has put to bed allegations that his current personal assistant was fired by President Hage Geingob for failing to post the President’s speech on Facebook.
Liandro Mensah, who was up until recently Geingob’s assistant for close to five years, is now personal assistant to Kapofi in the presidency – but his shift of office led to reports Geingob fired him.
Speaking to New Era yesterday, Kapofi said recent media reports on Mensah’s work at State House were incorrect.
“When I moved to my new office, I did not have a personal assistant and I saw the young man had the ability to do the job,” explained Kapofi.
“I first approached him on whether he would be willing to work with me and he said that it will depend on what the President says.”
Kapofi added: “I went to my boss and he agreed that the growth of the young man is good. I got the young man. All those other things that I am hearing, I do not know anything about them.”
According to a report in a local weekly, Mensah was thrown out of his office after Geingob requested security personnel to escort him out of State House. The report went on to say that his perceived alliance with former SPYL leader Elijah Ngurare got him in trouble.
