President Hifikepunye Pohamba has expressed satisfaction with the progress made at the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (Namfi) since its inception five years ago.
The President noted that although the institute has been facing some challenges, it did well to offer training to needy young marine engineers.
Pohamba made these remarks when he visited the Namfi campus in Walvis Bay last week, as part of his tour of businesses at the harbour town.
The Head of State especially singled out the involvement of the Spanish Government in the operations of the centre, noting that their invaluable contribution to the Namibian fishing sector is greatly appreciated.
Namfi’s primary responsibilities include the provision of training to sea-going personnel.
As the country’s sole institution offering such training its programme involves areas of navigation, and engineering and safety, which are offered at both the main campus at Walvis Bay and at the L??????’??
