Only pride at stake in Tigers, Magic clash tonight

Home Sports Only pride at stake in Tigers, Magic clash tonight

WINDHOEK – Supporters of African Stars and Black Africa, and to a lesser extent Orlando Pirates, could be forgiven for throwing their weight fully behind Tura Magic in tonight’s MTC Premiership David vs Goliath clash.

The habitual party-poopers, Tura Magic, collide with their number one enemy – Tigers, in a match of pure convenience at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight at 19h00. In the greater scheme of things, the outcome of this particular encounter should have very little significance, since both teams are effectively out of the running for the coveted league title. As matters stand, Bobby Samaria’s title chasing Tigers and their inability to collect maximum points against lesser opponents coupled with inconsistency has left reigning champions Black Africa on course to rewrite the history books with an unprecedented 4th consecutive league crown.

Only two rounds of matches remain before the curtain closes on one of the most closely contested league titles in domestic football history. However, pride will be at stake when the two rivals trot onto the field with joint 3rd placed Tigers enjoying a 6-point advantage plus a game in hand over their mid-table opponents in what promises to be an exciting encounter. Both teams are determined to end the season on a high in order to lay claim to the available 4th place finish that comes along with prize money. Teams finishing below that threshold will be left empty handed.
