A 25-year-old man who had left a bar in Havana informal settlement in Windhoek to answer the call of nature returned with a stab wound, collapsed and suddenly died on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as David Gideon. The incident occurred at a bar in Keetmanshoop Street.
“It is alleged the man left the bar and went outside to urinate. Soon thereafter the man stormed into the bar, fell to the ground and died. A stab wound was observed in his left chest,” police spokesperson chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi reported this week.
She said the police have requested any member of the public with information on the fatal stabbing to contact Wanaheda police station.
In an unrelated matter, the police released the names of three people who died in the accident on Saturday between Otjiwarongo and Okahandja. It was reported the three were charred in the vehicle they were in, while 11 others sustained serious to minor injuries when the two vehicles in which they were travelling collided head-on and caught fire on impact.
The deceased are Collin Kamuhanga, 35, Lukas Ndinoitisange Hiskia, 42, and Jona Mikka, 39.
Shikwambi said the Iveco minibus and the courier truck with two people on board were travelling in opposite directions and collided when one of them tried to overtake another vehicle.
She also reported that a 43-year-old German national, Jurgen Voland, allegedly shot and killed himself with a hunting rifle on Plot 20 at Kapps Farm. A suicide note left behind suggested he had financial problems.
According to Shikwambi, the deceased was found on Saturday afternoon by close friends in the riverbed behind his house.
In another such incident, a pensioner allegedly committed suicide after he was found hanging from a tree at Okathiya village in the Otamanzi Constituency of Omusati Region. The deceased has been identified as David Rehabeam, aged 64.
A case of rape was meanwhile opened in Rehoboth after an 18-year-old woman was reportedly raped by two men, aged 22 and 26. They apparently grabbed the young woman and forcefully dragged her to a secluded nearby place, where they allegedly raped her. The two suspects have been arrested.
In Omusati Region, a 19-year-old man – an uncle to the victims – was arrested after it was determined that he raped two minors (aged six and eight years), who were left in his care. The minors started complaining about abdominal pains and were taken to hospital, where it was detected that they had been sexually molested.
In Oshana Region, a 29-year-old pregnant woman miscarried after the vehicle she was travelling in collided with another vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
“The driver of the Toyota pick-up was not is possession of a driver’s license when he collided with a Polo vehicle, hitting it from behind. “There were two pregnant women in the sedan,” remarked Shikwambi. She said the other woman sustained slight injuries and was taken to Onandjokwe State Hospital.
