PUM – a Dutch organization providing senior expertise to small-sized companies – challenges Namibian companies to make increased use of its silver workers for improved and innovative performance.

WINDHOEK

When a group of small fishing boats operating along Lake Victoria experienced constant engine problems, they called in a PUM expert for assistance.

Before the PUM intervention, the association of boats lost a lot of time travelling to the nearby town to have their engines repaired, or settled to fiddle with the machines themselves. In the process, they lost out on time and money. This intervention made a “massive impact” on their business.

Working in very hot conditions in Mozambique, a small chocolate factory struggled to get its product ‘just right’ for a competitive market. The company applied for expert assistance from PUM, and is now supplying all hotels in Maputo and surrounding lodges with its chocolates.

“These companies are flourishing because they have opened their doors to retired experts for assistance,” says PUM representative in Namibia, Dr Eline van der Linden.
