The exciting annual Rakutuka art and culture festival of the Katutura Community Arts Centre will be again staged for the fourth time next Saturday, thanks to the generous financial support of the private business sector.
“This open arts and culture fun-filled day showcases all activities of the KCAC and creates awareness among the public on the activities the center is involved with,” said the newly appointed acting head of KCAC and chief festival organizer of the one-day event, David Ndjavera.
At the same event a mural, sponsored by the Americans, will be unveiled by the JMAC arts center.
“The idea of the festival is to promote our activities and to meet artists in a more informal manner sharing creative experiences. But we also have children games and the event is free of charge,” said Ndjavera.
The programme caters for choir singing, traditional dancing, art demonstrations, play performances, movies, rap group appearances, a fashion show, local bands and a Missus and Mister Rakutuka competition.
The event is primarily sponsored by the Franco-Namibia Cultural Centre, the Deutsche Stiftung, the American embassy, the National Theatre of Namibia, the National Art Gallery, Bank Windhoek, Cell One and the Culture Department of the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture.
The festival takes place on Saturday, March 29 at 10h00 and runs until the evening.
