Home Sports Referees taken through the ropes

WINDHOEK – German football expert Matthias Eiles recently conducted coaching clinics for referees and prospective match officials from all regions affilated to the Namibian Football Association (NFA) at Football House. He was assisted by local refreree instructors Boy-Boy Ndjadhila and Veeta Katjaimo.

Apart from the acquisition of basic knowledge about the rules of the game, the focus of this short-term project was primarily aimed at game observation and the analysis of refereeing performances, inclding practical units in an effort to enhance fitness and exercises in order to optimise personal behaviour on and off the field.

The ultimate objective was to enable the participants to officiate at football matches in Namibia on their own and thus contribute to the overall development of football in Namibia.

In line with the memorandum of understanding signed between the Republic of Namibia and the Federal Republic of Germany in 2008 with regard to the implementation of a long term project in the area of football, a 7-day short term project took place last week.
