RUNDU – A 30-year-old Congolese man was arrested after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at a guest house in Rundu.

The incident reportedly took place at the guest house in the vicinity of Safari in Rundu, near the place where the defiled minor stays.

“He took her to the guest house  where he lives to have sex with her fully knowing she is a minor. He knows her as he lives nearby where we stay,” said one of the girl’s parents who requested anonymity.

The suspect,Tshipora Ilunga, was arrested by the police on May 12 and he appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on May 14. His case was postponed to July 29 for further police investigations.

The suspect was not granted bail by the magistrate Esme Molefe who presided over the case while Albert Titus prosecuted.

“He was a refugee at Osire refugee camp, originally from DRC and he joined the music group 4×4 Too Much Power. He he later moved to Rundu where he lives now,” said Chief inspector Chrispin Mubebo of the Namibian Police in Rundu.
