The new Namibian Police Regional Headquarters of the Zambezi Region was inaugurated last Thursday by the Minister of Safety and Security (Rtd) Major-General Charles Namoloh in Katima Mulilo.

The new facility constructed over a period of three years cost government about N$41 million.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony Namoloh acknowledged that the construction of the new facility was costly and he therefore urged members of the police and the community at large to “jealously safeguard resources at their disposal”.

Namoloh also emphasized that the inauguration of the new building is a clear indication that government is dedicated to the improvement of the livelihood of members of the police force.

“I have no doubt that the government will continue to address the plight of our members of the force. It is then up to the rest of us to continue working diligently, with loyalty and commitment towards the cause of duty,” stressed Namoloh.

Namoloh’s sentiments were shared by the Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Sebastian Ndeitunga, who acknowledged the police continue to experience a challenge of lack of offices which in turn has a negative impact on deployment strategies for personnel.

Ndeitunga further stressed the construction of facilities like the new police regional headquarters in Zambezi Region will enable the police to make proper and suitable deployment.

“The members from the Zambezi were operating from a very dilapidated office and they had been facing office space problems. The old building is no longer suitable for a regional headquarters,” noted Ndeitunga.
Among others the new facility consists of 42 offices, seven logistic warehouses, a boardroom, two reception areas and a storeroom.
