Two Botswanan nationals died instantly and three others sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in overturned on Sunday.

Police sources indicate that the driver of a white Land Cruiser lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn about ten kilometres outside Aroab on the C16 road. The driver of the car and one passenger died on the spot, while the other three passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.

The two deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Stephen Kavari and 63-year-old Joel Kavari. Two of the injured passengers, 42-year-old Lucrecia Kavari and 37-year-old Felicia Mooketsi, have since been discharged from hospital, while Benny Kavari, 35, has been transferred to Windhoek for further medical attention.

The remains of the two deceased have been taken to the Aroab mortuary and will to be transferred to the Keetmanshoop mortuary. An inquest into the accident has been opened and their next of kin have since been informed.
