WINDHOEK – Last weekend, the Central Tennis Club (CTC) conducted its first Social Doubles Tournament at the CTC Tennis Park in Olympia, where a total of 20 players participated.
To accommodate the participant’s different playing levels and to give both CTC juniors and new members with less match practice an opportunity, they were teamed up with more seasoned veteran players.
After 20 minutes all players had to rotate and continue playing in a new team formation. This way each player played with all other players but individually collected his or her winning game points.
At the end of the day, Zambian Davis Cup player, Kondwani Gondwe came first with a total of 38 game points, while Nquobilizwe Moyo finished second with 36 points and Elias Shikongo third with a total of 35 points.
After the matches, the hungry and thirsty players enjoyed the braai delicacies of Adrian Coetzee and still had plenty of opportunity to talk about the tightly contested and exciting tennis matches of the day.
