WINDHOEK – Southern Business School (SBS) Namibia, Omulunga Radio and Fresh FM joined forces in hosting an on-air competition where one lucky winner stood the chance of walking away with a year of free higher education. SBS prides itself on making higher education accessible to every Namibian that wants to pursue it.
Omulunga Radio and Fresh FM, radio stations that are listened to in all corners of Namibia, ensured that anyone that wanted to participate could do so. The prize took the form of having a one-year higher certificate qualification paid for by SBS. The lucky winner was Rodney Saul, who has now enrolled for a Higher Certificate in Management, specialising in public management at the SBS.
The callers had to answer a simple question about SBS and SMS the answer. Access to education at any level can be a challenge in Namibia and SBS’s distance learning programmes and courses offer a real alternative solution to accessing traditional higher education.
Distance education is a viable solution for students as they can study when it suits them.
The competition highlighted the different opportunities available to people wanting to further their education.
Director of SBS, Albin Jacobs, handed the prize to Saul and said; “It’s a great feeling when we can give an opportunity to someone that is keen to learn and develop themselves academically. It really is what Southern Business School Namibia stands for.”
Saul was clearly excited to receive the prize and said; “Further education is very important and an opportunity to take part in a competition like this doesn’t come along very often. So I took a chance and can’t believe I will now be able to earn a Higher Certificate in Management specialising in public management.”
