WINDHOEK – In a bid to tighten their stranglehold on the coveted MTC Premiership crown, undisputed Namibian football champions Black Africa have acquired the services of former South African giants, Orlando Pirates’ lethal goal-poacher Theophilus ‘Ronaldo’ Tsowaseb, New Era Sports has learnt.

According to Black Africa chairperson, Kandas Paulino, Tsowaseb is with BA on loan from Pirates for the 2014/15 soccer season while he sorts out his papers in South Africa.

The former Orlando Pirates (Namibia) striker Tsowaseb recently returned home following an unsuccessful spell in the South African Absa Premiership.

In February last year, Tsowaseb signed a three-year deal with South African giants Orlando Pirates after impressing the Buccaneers’ technical team while on trial but was unfortunately later deemed surplus to requirements.

After his release from Pirates, Tsowaseb moved on to look for greener pastures elsewhere and joined Absa Premiership returnees Chippa United but his move proved futile when he failed to register due to some technical issues.

New Era Sports has, however, learnt that at the time when Tsowaseb joined Chippa United, the club had already registered five foreigners with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) when the transfer window closed in August last year – making it impossible to register the 25-year-old Namibian youngster, as the PSL foreign quota was full.

The five foreigners registered by the club with the PSL were Nigerian trio of James Okwuosa, George Akpabio, and Ugonna Uzochukwu, Zimbabwean defender Eric Chipeta and Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

Tsowaseb’s Agent Collin April, yesterday confirmed to New Era Sports that the player was indeed back in Namibia but refused to shade more light on the player’s off-loading by Chippa United. April could also neither confirm nor deny that Tsowaseb has joined Black Africa, saying: “I’m also hearing such rumours but I cannot really comment on that at this point in time, maybe later in the week”.
