Rössing Foundation donates to schools

Rössing Foundation donates to schools

Auleria Wakudumo

The Rössing Foundation has donated more than N$554 000 to two schools in Omusati and Kunene regions.

The donation, given under Rössing’s Learning Enhanced Learning Access (Lela) flagship project, is to contribute towards tuition fees, purchasing learning materials, school uniforms, toiletries, medical expenses and hostel fees for six orphaned pupils.

Nakayale Private Academy in Omusati region, which accommodates and teaches children from disadvantaged families and orphans, received N$500 000 of the donation.

Ombyarundu Primary School in Kunene region received mathematics and environmental science text-books, learning aids and chairs and desks, all valued at N$54 360.

The donations were handed over to the schools by Rössing’s liaison and community development manager, Maria Immanuel.

She said the majority of children at Ombyarundu are from marginalised communities, and face significant barriers in accessing quality education.  She said the donation would enhance the learning of the science curriculum and create an environment conducive for the learners to thrive.

“We firmly believe every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Immanuel.

She stated that Rössing Foundation, under its Lela flagship project, is committed to making a positive impact in rural communities, particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds and families.
