The Rehoboth Town Council has announced the commencement of phase one of the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of the B1 Road and Bahnhof Street.

The project, managed by Donny Investments CC, is one of the town council’s budgeted capital projects for the 2024/25 fiscal year.

It would be the town’s second set of traffic lights.

Acting CEO Ronald Robert Windswaai told Nampa on Monday that the project is intended to ensure an orderly flow of traffic on the busy B1 road, as well as to provide an opportunity for pedestrians or vehicles to cross the intersection, while reducing conflicts between vehicles entering the intersection from opposite directions.

“We are also preparing for an increase in traffic volume due to the anticipated changes and new projects coming to town, doing everything possible and feasible to satisfy the anticipated demand,” he stated.

Windswaai advised road users that the traffic lights might occasionally flicker during the commissioning of this project, but the intersection should be treated as usual.

The project began on 10 June 2024, and is expected to be completed by 5 July 2024.
