RUNDU – All Rundu town councillors were re-elected to serve in their current positions in an election held at the town on Tuesday.

The election was presided over by Magistrate Helen Olaiya who later swore in Hilka Leevi as town mayor and Bonny Kahare as the deputy mayor.

Johannes Murenga, Sarafina Kandere and Daniel Lilenga were sworn in as members of the management committee, while Reginald Ndara of the Rundu Concerned Citizens Association and Andreas Mulinda of APP will serve as ordinary members of the council.

The six councillors were re-elected in the positions they have served for the past five years except for Andreas Mulinda who had just joined the council this week to replace the previous APP member Kassius Mukena who resigned in July this year.

Amongst the seven councillors, five are on the Swapo ticket, one from the Rundu Concerned Citizens Association (RCCA) and the other one from All People’s Party (APP).

The election took place at the regional council auditorium where some community members as well as various heads of institutions from the Rundu town jurisdiction were also present to witness the occasion.
