Safland Namibia has confirmed that the newly completed 14 000 square metre Rundu Mall will open on October 28.
An excited Mirinda van der Merwe, Safland’s head of asset management, said the mall was a game-changer and redefined the central business district of Rundu.
“Rundu Mall is designed to create an assembly point for potential customers, who use taxis as means of travel and we know that the mall will also attract customers from as far as Divundu, as this is the only shopping centre with a comprehensive tenant mix in the area. We have accommodated tenants that the public have asked for, as well as tenants that were not represented in the area,” she said.
Phase 1 of the Rundu Mall was completed in May and part of Phase 2 entailed the upgrading and extension of the old Rundu Shopping Centre. Rundu Mall showcases tenants that are brand new to the area, such as Shoprite, Jetmart, Edgars Active, Legit, KFC, Clicks, Streethouse, Dodo’s, Johan Craig, American Swiss, Sportscene, Total Sports, Bata Shoes, Studio 88, OTB Sport, Hungry Lion, and a fully-fledged FNB branch, in addition to the SME Bank.
Rundu Mall is Safland’s sixth shopping centre completed in the last four years, not including Windhoek’s free-standing KFC in Kleine Kuppe and the new Virgin Active in Hilltop Estate. Other shopping centres currently under construction include the second biggest mall in Namibia, Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay, and the extension of Gwashamba Mall in Ondangwa.
The development of The Steps Offices, City Lodge Hotel, Gobabis Mall and Oasis Mall in Oshakati will start in early 2016.
