The outgoing chair of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials, Sandile Schalk (left) from South Africa handover the chair to incoming Chairperson, Ambassador Selma Ashipala- Musavyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation in the Republic of Namibia. The SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials started this morning in Windhoek. “It is here where the Southern African Development Community was birthed and here we have returned, to gauge not only it’s growth and progression, but more importantly, how SADC has continued to meaningfully touch the lives of our people,” said Ashipala-Musavyi when accepting the chair. The 38th SADC Summit is taking place under the theme “Promoting Infrastructure Development and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development.” The meeting of the Council of Ministers would start on 13 August, while the Organ Troika Meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ would take place on 16 August and the Summit of Heads of State and Government take place on 17 August.
