Samsung unveils UHD TV

Home Business Samsung unveils UHD TV

MÃLAGA, Spain – Global electronics giant Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new range of electronic products among them the curved ultra high definition (UHD) TV.

The new range of curved UHDs start from the 55-inch, 65-inch, 78-inch, 85-inch and a top-of-the-range 110-inch UHD screen. Other products showcased were air conditioners, washing machines and fridges all fitted with eye-popping features. Other trend-setting revolutionary products include a smart oven that can amazingly fry meat, fish and other foods without using cooking oil and it surpasses a microwave oven when it comes to functionality. The 32-litre smart oven apart from cooking could also be used for grilling meat.

Samsung executives at the launch of the curved UHD TV attended by journalists from across the African continent said the new television gives viewers  “life-like picture quality and depth” and offers better viewing, when compared to HD sets that also have lesser pixels compared to UHD. Aiden Rosseau the Business Leader AV Southern Africa at Samsung Electronics said the newly unveiled UHD is revolutionary in terms of the viewing experience it offers. “Its clarity is so perfect it offers consumers the excitement of viewing.” Because of the high cost the 110-inch curved UHDs will be available mainly to targeted niche markets in various countries. Rosseau says Samsung Electronics is struggling to keep up with the pace of the high demand for its products in Africa, where electronic sales have shot through the roof. This high demand has also resulted in the “infiltration of fake (Samsung) products.”

In Zambia the police have assisted the electronics giant to seize a sizable amount of Samsung counterfeit products. Samsung has launched an anti-counterfeit campaign in Africa that entails its genuine range of products that will continue carrying an exclusive two-year warranty. At the Palacio de Ferias Y Congresos de Mãlaga, a conference centre situated on the outskirts of Málaga city, in the Cruz de Humilladero district, journalists attending the Samsung 2014 Forum were also shown a miniature model of a mobile smart school. A Samsung mobile smart school is a fully integrated one-on-one learning platform. It enables teachers to deliver an interactive learning experience and provides students with immediate, reliable data access as it is equipped with a file server, interactive E-board and is designed to allow teachers and students to benefit from the very best that a digital education solution can offer.

Thierry Boulanger, the Director for B2B and IT solutions (Africa) also spoke about the benefits of the mobile smart school. He offered the example of a school in South Africa where the pass rate among learners has gone up to an astonishing 97 percent. The mobile smart school also allows teachers to monitor the performance of their learners, while teachers can test their learners and get the results immediately.
