Home Youth Corner Savannah Afros launches debut album

Windhoek

The trio of Tapz, Stunt and Nayasha, known as Savannah Afros are launching their debut album, Cheivhu, at the Warehouse Theatre tonight.

Cheivhu, means life is from the soil and has ten tracks, plus two bonus ones. “So far we can safely say Jester Joker, a producer from Angola, is one of the few artists who featured on our album,” says Taps. The launch promises to be a massive show with surprise local guest artists, and from Angola.

Savannah Afros comprises songwriters, performing artists and social activists based in Windhoek. They have developed a keen interest in local cross-cultural exchange programmes and partnerships, performing with established musicians and artists. Their main influences are Afro-Fusion jazz, Soul, Pop and Traditional. Over the years they have collaborated with various artists with whom they recorded with and performed internationally.

Locally the band earned local fame for their self-penned heartfelt songs. Entrance fee is N$150 and N$250 for VIPs including a free CD and also an automatic invitation to the launching after party. Doors open at eight O’clock in the evening (20H00).
