The coach of the national senior football team, the Brave Warriors, Arie Schans, has cracked the whip after Namibia’s lukewarm performance in the maiden edition of the African Nations Championships qualifier against Zimbabwe last weekend.

The no-nonsense Dutch national has shown underperforming players the door and drafted ten foreign-based players into a 22-member provisional squad ahead of Namibia’s 2010 World Cup qualifier against Kenya on the 31st of this month.

The surprise omission is that of Black Leopards goalkeeper Ephraim Tjihonge, who has been playing regularly for his club Black Leopards, while his teammate Hartman Toromba has been given the nod despite seeing very little action at club level.

The wounded Warriors have a date against Kenya’s Harambee Stars at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium at the end of this month, and will have to pull out all stops to restore some lost pride after their recent poor showing, that includes home defeats against lowly opposition such as Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Schans regretfully announced the withdrawal of Hanover 96 prot??????’??
