Another selection shocker by Mannetti

Home Sports Another selection shocker by Mannetti

WINDHOEK – It’s the same old story. Brave Warriors mentor Ricardo Mannetti has again raised eyebrows with his increasingly questionable selection policy – leaving out in-form and active players at the expense of his ineffective tested and trusted worn-out soldiers.

Mannetti named a provisional Brave Warriors squad for preparations for the upcoming CAF AFCON preliminary against Congo Brazzaville this year. The players are requested to report for training at the Namibia Football Association premises, Football House, later today.

Rejuvenated Orlando Pirates centre back Brian Gurirab is a surprise absentee from the list, while Deon Hotto and his Golden Arrows team-mate Chris Katjuukua were left out of the squad as well.

There is also no room for Black Africa’s free scoring pocket size striker Muna Katupose, while Tigers overlapping fullback Treasurer Kauapirura and Ronaldo Tsowaseb Orlando Pirates (South Africa) were also overlooked.

What raises more eyebrows is the technical staff’s total disregard for standard rules by announcing the squad through a press statement instead of a press conference in a move understood to be a deliberate plot to avoid some pertinent questions from the media.

The provisional squad reads as follows:

l Maximillian Mbaeva
