Elton Jimmy, also known by his radio persona ‘Sexy Jimmy’, is back on the airwaves and is now co-hosting with Prince D every Sunday on Energy 100 and not Base FM, from where many know him.
After spending 12 years with Base FM, the popular radio personality told VIBEZ! the relationship with the community-based station ended abruptly in 2019.
“I have the biggest respect for Base FM, simply because the station brought the best out of me. I have learned to focus on the positives, because focusing on the negatives is contributing to failure,” he explained.
After his long stint at Base FM, ‘Sexy Jimmy’ decided to take a break from radio hosting, and moved to South Africa to “clear” his mind and refocus his life.
“I really needed to reset myself, so the first thing I did was I told the lover of my life, my long-term girlfriend Shanon ‘Bubu’ we need to go out of the country. We went to Cape Town, and I must say it did justice to me simply because that’s like my second home.”
However, spending time off air got to him mentally, as his circumstances changed and life was not going in the direction he thought it would.
“I disappointed a lot of my followers. Wherever I used to go after splitting ways with Base FM, every second person was forcing me with a big please to go back on air. But what they did not know is that I wasn’t ready to go back on air. My personal life was messed up, and the only thing I asked myself is how I will keep my followers happy on air if I, myself, was not happy. Jaa, but now I fixed myself and I am ready for my people. I just pray and hope to get a permanent slot on radio so that I can spend more time with my followers,” he noted.
The DJ also dabbles as a musician and released an album some time ago.
He revealed he will be hitting the studio very soon.
“About my new album; that is one of the biggest projects that I will be giving my people. They know I am not an easy person; I am working endlessly on that project. So, ja – be ready anytime soon for what’s about to come.”
